OBSTETRICAL AND GYNECLOGICAL NURSING

OVERVIEW

Obstetrics is the field of study, concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. Gynecology (GYN) involves care of all women’s health issues. Obstetrics and Gynecology department majorly focuses on overall woman’s health from puberty to Menopause.

The Department of OBG Nursing is one of the important Clinical Nursing Specialty of the nursing institutes. Obstetrical and Gynecological Nursing department provides with theoretical and practical elements to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The department aims towards excellence in clinical practice and strives to provide the students with various aspect of midwifery to become competent and caring midwives. We ensure effective and efficient services to our student community & enable them to function as educators, managers and researchers in the field of OBG Nursing

This includes:

  • Pregnancy

  • labor

  • childbirth and

  • postpartum period

Obstetrical nurses help to provide prenatal care and testing, care of patients experiencing pregnancy complications, care during labor and delivery, and care of patients during delivery.

  • UG Programme –BSC Nursing

  • PG Programme –MSC Nursing

LAB FACILITIES

It is set up with the view to enable the students to provide comprehensive care to Mothers and Neonates .The infrastructure of the lab includes delivery cot, adult cots, different articles and OT instruments used in Obstetrics.

The Departmental Lab is well equipped with Birthing Simulators, Obstetric manikins, Pelvis, Fetal Skull, Various Obstetrical Instruments, different kinds of Models etc. These all help the students to acquire Knowledge & skills in patient care that are to be practiced in clinical settings.
