Introduction

Oral and maxilliofacial surgery is a specialty of dentistry concerned with the diagnosis and surgical treatment of congenital or acquired diseases, dysfunction, defects or injuries of the mouth, jaws, face, neck and associated regions. The department is actively involved in academic/teaching programmes as well as patient care.

Academic / teaching programme

Training is provided to undergraduate students(BDS) during their Third and Final years in Oral Surgery in the form of theory lecture classes, clinical postings, chair side teaching, demonstrations and small group discussions. Dental education is delivered through comprehensive didactic and clinical sessions. The broad experience and specialisation of the academic staff combine to provide the dental undergraduate with the requisite skills for general practice.
